Takeshi Saji wurde 1948 in Takefu (Präfektur Fukui) geboren, einer Stadt etwa im Zentrum Japans und im Herzen einer jahrhundertelangen Klingenproduktion. Seine Werkstatt ist immer noch dort, um den Ofen herum gebaut, dank derer Takeshi Saji seit einigen Jahren Stahl (insbesondere Damast) schmiedet, mit dem er verschiedene Modelle traditioneller japanischer Messer herstellt. Die Wahl der Materialien für die Oberflächen (hauptsächlich natürlich), die essentiellen Linien - die an den Gebrauch erinnern - und die Farbkombinationen von seltener Wirkung machen seine Kreationen einzigartig und unverwechselbar im Panorama der Weltbestecke und haben ihm zu Hause den prestigeträchtigen Titel des Meisters.
