Notiz: -Citadel Knives and Swords ist ein Schwert- und Messerhersteller mit Sitz in Phnom Penh, Kambodscha. Trotz des Rufs des Landes als exotischer und abgelegener Standort ist das Unternehmen leicht zu erreichen und befindet sich in der Nähe des internationalen Flughafens der Stadt. Der Laden ist bescheiden, bietet aber eine beeindruckende Auswahl an hochwertigen japanischen Schwertern und Messern.
Citadel wurde in den 1990er Jahren von Dominique Eluere gegründet und hat das Fachwissen französischer und lokaler Handwerker gebündelt, um Klingen herzustellen, die mit den besten der Welt mithalten können. Eluere begann mit der Ausbildung kambodschanischer Schmiede zur Herstellung französischer Tafelmesser und entwickelte sich später zur Herstellung japanischer Schwerter.
Die Qualität der Citadel-Schwerter ist dank der Verwendung traditioneller japanischer Techniken und eines sorgfältigen Herstellungsprozesses weltweit anerkannt. Jedes Katana wird thermisch abgestuft, wodurch eine Klinge mit unterschiedlicher Härte entlang der Kante und des Rückens entsteht, ein Markenzeichen echter Katanas. Der Griff ist vollständig mit hochwertigem Rochenleder überzogen, eine Seltenheit im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Platten.
Die Liebe zum Detail erstreckt sich auf alle Elemente, wobei jede Komponente für jede Klinge maßgeschneidert ist. Dazu gehören Tsuba (Schwertschutz) und Habaki (Klingenkragen), die beide manuell hergestellt und angepasst werden, um perfekte Passform und Funktion zu gewährleisten.
Neben Katanas stellt Citadel auch europäische Schwerter und Messer her und behält dabei die gleiche Philosophie von Qualität und Funktionalität bei. Die Herstellung erfolgt handwerklich, wobei besonderes Augenmerk auf das Polieren und die Endbearbeitung gelegt wird, die oft von Hand mit Schleifpapier und Schleifsteinen durchgeführt werden.
Citadel ist stolz auf seine kambodschanischen Wurzeln. Die einheimischen Arbeiter betrachten Eluere als Vaterfigur und investieren viel in die Aufrechterhaltung der hohen Standards des Unternehmens.

Citadel - Camp Knife
Questi coltelli artigianali si distinguono per la loro linea originale, ma funzionale, che ben si accoppia alletradizionali tecniche realizzative ed ai materiali impiegati.
Le lame vengono infatti temprate a carbone fino adavere una durezza di circa 40 HRC dopodichè, dopo essere state martellate a mano, dorso e lati vengono rivestiti di argilla ed il filo è ritemprato a 60 HRC per avere ottime capacità di taglio, penetrazione e flessibilità. Il coltello viene poi lucidato ed affilato a mano su pietra e rifinito in ogni singolo dettaglio.

Questi coltelli artigianali si distinguono per la loro linea originale, ma funzionale, che ben si accoppia alletradizionali tecniche realizzative ed ai materiali impiegati.
